The Wall That Heals 2025
The Wall That Heals was at the Jefferson County International Airport September 11 to 14, 2025. The three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial was supported by hundreds of people and businesses in our community–Bruce F. Matheson Post 7498 Veterans of Foreign Wars among them. After the escort to the airport and a time to gather, the Apex Square was constructed. This set the apex and wings of The Wall, which was completed the next day. The frame was completed in the morning and then the panels were carried to The Wall, with their โnames towards Heaven,โ and installed. Some were escorted by family and friends. Six had family in Jefferson County and five were Port Townsend High School graduates. Medal of Honor recipient Marvin G. Shields is memorialized on Panel 2 East and was escorted by his widow, Joan. Over 5,000 visited The Wall, 450 school children and adults took the educational tour, and over 350 attended the evening Agent Orange Ceremony. We do not any photos of the ceremonies, which we would like to add to our album.
